Taking place on Sunday 13th September in Doncaster, the Recovery Games is a recognised celebration of recovery, bringing together people with lived experience, families, supporters and professionals through sport, teamwork and shared purpose. For more than 13 years, the event has created opportunities for people to build confidence, challenge stigma and celebrate the achievements that recovery makes possible.
As sponsors of the Community Hope Hub, Turning Point is proud to support a space dedicated to connection, inspiration and recovery-focused conversations throughout the event. The hub will provide a welcoming environment where people can come together, share experiences and discover the support available within recovery communities.
Adding to the excitement, Turning Point will also have two teams competing in this year's games, our Lincoln Livewires team and our Inspiring Recovery team, who arrive as the reigning champions and will be looking to defend their title against teams from across the country.
Events such as the Recovery Games provide a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together to support one another and celebrate recovery in all its forms.
Neil Firbank, Recovery Games Director and Founder, said:
"Teams from Turning Point have attended and enjoyed the Recovery Games for many years, so to now have them on board as a major sponsor for our 13th annual event is incredible. Their support aids us immensely in our next chapter as we transition into an independent, lived-experience organisation. We are truly thankful and look forward to working alongside them."
Catherine Woolley, Partnerships & Training Practitioner, shared why this event means so much to her:
"I discovered Recovery Games C.I.C. two years ago. It began as work but I wasn’t ready for the impact it would have on me personally. I’m in recovery myself and I found the games do everything they say on the tin plus so much more! The camaraderie between thousands of people who have never met but who connect through shared lived experience is priceless. Also knowing that anyone attending who’s not in recovery themselves is there supporting with no judgement or stigma is beautiful.
It’s an amazing thing to see so many people coming together for a common goal. The way this event has gone from something small to what it is today just shows the tenacity and dogged determination people in recovery have. I’m looking forward to seeing what their next chapter brings."
The Recovery Games also forms a part of Turning Point's wider Recovery Month 2026 campaign. This year's theme, Meeting People Where They Are, recognises that there is no single path to recovery and that everyone's journey is unique. By supporting the Community Hope Hub and taking part in the games, Turning Point is helping to create welcoming spaces where people can connect, access support and celebrate recovery in all its forms.
As anticipation builds for this year's event, Turning Point wishes every competitor the very best of luck and looks forward to being part of a day that celebrates the resilience, strength and achievements of people on their recovery journeys.
