Turning Point supported accommodation
Beacon Lodge
Beacon Lodge is a 12-bed unit for people recovering from an acute phase of mental illness. Support and interventions are provided for people who are well enough to leave acute inpatient mental healthcare but who are not yet fully ready to independent living. A range of community-based support services are provided to help the transition, including face-to-face support, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Planned weekly sessions to ensure progress towards the goals for each person’s stay and independent living.
Hunger Hill
Opened in February 2022, Hunger Hill is a new building with 9 self-contained flats and a staff area on site for support. Each flat is fitted out to a high standard and comprises living, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom areas. There are a mixture of ground and first floor flats available. All flats are furnished, including white goods such as fridge/freezer, cooker and washing machines. They also have essential items such as a bed, bedroom storage, sofa, dining table and chairs.
Preparing people for greater independence
To help create the possibility for a full and active life, a tailored support package is defined for each person, designed to help everyone reach their full potential and achieve their recovery goals. The level of support can vary, depending on what is needed, ranging from 24 hour onsite support to visiting support for a few hours a week.
Whilst in supported accommodation, guidance is offered to enable people to move towards greater independence and the potential this creates for them. This could involve understanding how to manage their medication and engage with mental health treatment programmes, managing personal finances and housing admin, and building motivation, confidence, and self-esteem.
