Safer Lives Conference 2027

Safer Lives Conference 2027 returns for its fifth year, bringing together leading voices from across the sector to explore how we can reduce harm and improve health outcomes for people who use drugs.

Taking place at the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre on Wednesday 24th February, this year’s theme is “Reducing Harm through Health Promotion”, which puts a spotlight on the practical, real‑world interventions making a difference on the ground.

Across a full day of talks, panels and discussion, you’ll hear from experts, frontline practitioners and people with lived experience as we explore the evolving challenges within harm reduction and the solutions already driving change. From overdose awareness and prevention and widening access to naloxone, to wound care, respiratory health and safer injecting practices, the programme is designed to share learning that can be applied immediately.

We’re proud to be joined our partners at Bristol Drugs Project (BDP), who will share insights from Project 4T, highlighting innovative harm reduction approaches for trans and non-binary communities. Alongside this, sessions will cover emerging trends such as drug checking, polydrug use, and improving access to needle and syringe programmes, ensuring the conversation reflects the realities of today’s drug landscape.

We will be releasing the full line up later this year.

As with previous years, Safer Lives is more than just a conference. It’s an opportunity to connect, collaborate and challenge thinking whilst building on a shared commitment to reduce drug-related harm, save lives, and create services that meet people where they are.
