Since joining Turning Point, Paul has bravely embraced independent living with confidence and demonstrating resilience, an amazing example of someone with a strong commitment to their personal growth.
Paul’s journey has led to Turning Point staff praising Paul for his incredible progress, dedication, and positive impact on those around him, with his transition from living with his family to managing daily responsibilities independently being described as inspiring to others.
Staff members added that his work as a long-term volunteer with Age UK reflects his passion in staying active in the community and dedication to making a difference to other people’s lives.
Paul’s remarkable progress led to him being nominated for an Inspired by Possibility Award, which recognise the people we support and their incredible journeys.
At Turning Point’s seventh annual awards ceremony, Sonal Daniel, senior support worker at Turning Point, said:
“Paul’s proactive communication, patience, and support for others, particularly those who are more vulnerable, reflect his kind and caring nature.
“His journey towards greater independence, including his goal of traveling independently, showcases his determination to continue learning and growing. Paul is a role model for others and his achievements deserve to be celebrated.”
Turning Point chief executive, Julie Bass, paid tribute to the award winners, saying:
“This is the seventh year we have run this recognition scheme to celebrate and share the wide range of inspirational achievements, accomplishments and contributions of the people we support.
“We know how important it is to celebrate their remarkable stories of strength and resilience to engage in change, particularly when they are faced with a number of challenges and difficulties.
“It's not just me that finds it motivating, energising, and inspiring to hear all of the stories, it's all of our colleagues, nearly 5,000, up and down the country, as well.
“We support over 200,000 people every year, so to be picked out from such a large population of people is an astonishing achievement. Well done to everyone who has won an award today.”
