From seeking support to providing strength: Maysie's Story

Maysie is an inspiring individual previously supported by Turning Point.

At an early age, Maysie faced insecurities because of changing schools and being bullied. In the video below Maysie shares her mental health experience and schizophrenia diagnosis, which led her to financial debt, an unhealthy lifestyle, and the strain placed on her social network.

After being referred to mental health specialists for help, Maysie found Turning Point, where she began her journey of self-discovery, reclaiming her life by building strong practical, emotional, and social skills. She has been able to pay back most of her debt and has moved into her own place.

Maysie now works as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Douglas House, a Turning Point supported living home, where she supports others with their mental health.

Watch the video to find out more and learn about Maysie’s hopes to complete her counselling training and approach to staying resilient and mentally well.
