Complex Needs and Dual Diagnosis APPG

When services are administered by separate providers, people with multiple or complex needs can sometimes fall through the gaps in service provision. Providers recognise that the best model for helping individuals with a dual diagnosis of complex needs is through an integrated service that aims to address all of the issues they face.

The APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) recognised that people seeking help often have a number of overlapping needs, including challenges accessing housing, employment opportunities, mental health services or substance use support. Turning Point act as the APPG secretariat.

Through its work the APPG seeks to ensure that the needs of this group remain on the political agenda and a priority for decision makers. This is increasingly important given the rising number of people with co-morbidities, new models of integrating health and social care, and increasing devolution. Since its formation, the APPG has met to discuss a breadth of issues including; mental health and the criminal justice system; looked after children and care leavers; sex workers; Women; Veterans; and legal highs.
