Turning Point and Personalisation
At Turning Point, we embrace and encourage the move towards personalisation and self-directed support.
This big change in policy means individuals having more control to get the support they choose and build the life they want. Personalisation also gives commissioners the power to create new opportunities to meet local need – something that can only be good for individuals and for their communities.
At Turning Point, the individual is in the driving seat. This has been our ethos for the past 40 years. But the changes happening now mean individuals, their families and carers can have more control than ever over their support.
As people get more choice and control, we will be there to help them make the most of the power they choose to take up. Personalisation brings lots of new tools – personal budgets, an RAS and individual service funds. It’s our job to help people make sense of that to get the support that they want. Whatever their situation, at Turning Point we will provide a personalised service driven by someone’s needs and desires.
First, that means building a service with an individual and the people around them to reach the goals they want to achieve. Then we deliver and manage the support we’ve agreed to achieve them, in a totally transparent and accountable way.
Right now, we’re focusing on our internal systems to make sure we are ready for the growing numbers of people controlling their own money and support. Personalisation will mean changes to how we do some things – from staff rotas to financial procedures such as billing. But we’re always developing new ways of proving how we’re delivering quality to the individual as well as the professional commissioner.
By the autumn we aim to have completed these changes and be ready for the future.
