Who We Are
We understand that taking the first step can be a daunting one but know that you are not alone. Our dedicated team of friendly professionals provide free, confidential, and non-judgemental support.
Our primary goal is to provide you with personalised care to address your specific goals and needs, whether it is to be abstinent, gain back control, or to just improve your quality of life.

Referring to our service
Are you feeling anxious about asking for help?
Watch our video guides where our clients and Peer Mentors talk about their own experiences of coming into service. Our staff also talk about what you can expect from our service.
How can I refer into the service?
Your treatment journey begins with a self-referral or a referral from a professional who is supporting you (like your GP).
Complete our online referral form or call us on 0300 303 8788. This is a 24/7 helpline, please leave a message if the line is busy and someone will return your call.
If you have made an online referral someone will call you back to arrange a date and time for an assessment appointment, they may need to ask more details to ensure we are providing the right level of support.
What happens after my referral?
You will be invited to an assessment, which will be a 60-minute phone call and we recommend you find a quiet and confidential space so you can speak freely.
You will be asked a series of questions about your substance use, living situation, any people in your care, your support system, and if you are working with any other organisations. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions about the process. Your answers will help us give you the support you need.
If plans change and you are not able to make the date and time, please let us know by email
or phone, and we can rearrange. We also offer evening appointments, usually on a
Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm, if this is easier for you.
What support will I get?
You will be assigned a Key Worker who will work with you to develop a care plan that meets your needs. They will identify suitable support options for you, which will be regularly reviewed to ensure you are working towards achieving your goals.
Depending on your treatment needs, you may engage in sessions covering a variety of topics such as recovery strategies, maintaining healthy relationships, boosting motivation, and building confidence for change.
The structure of these sessions, either group-based or one-on-one, will vary based on your treatment plan. Online alternatives might be offered to you if you are unable to access local services in-person, or if you do not need support, you can complete an online self-guided programme that can be completed in your own time.
If appropriate, you may be invited to a Clinical Assessment which be completed by one of our doctors or nurses and will decide if you need any medical interventions such as an Opiate Substitute Therapy or an Alcohol Detox.
How will the Peer Mentors support me?
Our Peer Mentors can play a crucial role in supporting you by providing empathy, understanding, and guidance based on their own experiences. These mentors, who have often gone through similar challenges, will offer a unique perspective. Through sharing coping strategies, offering emotional support, our Peer Mentors can inspire you to help you reach your goal.
What after care is available to me?
Even after reaching your goals, our support doesn't end there. Our Community Engagement Workers can provide ongoing help, if you want it. They can help you access mutual aid support and community support across Somerset, so you can keep the positive changes you’ve made.
How We Support You
Detoxification and Rehabilitation
If you need to access drug and alcohol detoxification (detox) or rehabilitation (rehab) as part of your plan, the focus will be on improving physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing so your long-term recovery can be achieved.
We can either support you to access this whilst living at home or in a residential detox/rehab facility.
You will be supported to manage your withdrawal symptoms and will be supported to make positive changes in your everyday life.
Specialised Support
Women's Specialist Support
We offer specialised treatment options tailored for women, including WOW (Women Only Workshops), female Womens Workers and Peer Mentors.
Our goal is to set up a secure environment where women can interact with others who share similar experiences and offer targeted help on issues like mental health and wellbeing, sexual health, safety, and family support.
Young People's Support
Our Young People’s team provide a dedicated specialist service for children and young people; we work with any young people who want to make changes to their substance use.
We take referrals up to the age of 18, or 25 if a care leaver, providing the support, education and personal resources to enable sustained and lasting change.
We are happy to have informal conversations with both young people, family members and professionals.
We also support young people between the ages of 7 and 18 years old who are struggling to deal with the impact of another person’s substance use, a parent, sibling or any significant person in their life.
All our support is on an outreach basis, meeting young people in appropriate community venues distinct from adult services, including schools, colleges and young people's homes.
Rough Sleeper Support
We support people who are rough sleeping or vulnerably housed to access advice, information and treatment around their substance use, with a hope of supporting their stability and finding suitable accommodation. We will work with the you and any other organisations such as housing.
Family Support
If someone close to you is using alcohol or other drugs in a way that is affecting your wellbeing, we can offer you support. You can access an online self-guided family support programme from your home and in your own time. This course focuses on how you can look after your own health and wellbeing, increasing your knowledge and understanding around
your loved one's issues and learning how best to respond to their behaviour.
In addition to this, if you feel you would benefit from further help, you can speak to one of our family support workers and access our group programmes.
We provide a service that is flexible, non-judgmental, confidential, and easily accessible. Our commitment lies in supporting families affected by substance use to get support.
Mental Health Support
We know that mental health and substance use problems often go hand in hand. That's why we offer help for both together.
Our team includes special Dual Diagnosis Recovery Workers who help people facing mental health issues and substance use problems. They connect individuals with different services, provide support with managing their situation, and guide them through their recovery journey.
Our Focus programme is here to support individuals with diagnosed mental health conditions. We help those with social anxiety, sleep troubles, problem-solving difficulties, managing emotions, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, eating disorders, lack of structure, or low motivation.
We understand the challenges you may be facing, and we are here to offer the support you need for your mental health and overall well-being.
Reduce the Harm of Drugs and Alcohol
We know that people may need, or may choose to, continue using alcohol and drugs while getting help from our service. For some people it may be dangerous to stop completely until they are ready, or they may need specialist treatment to help them stop safely.
We also recognise that it is not everyone’s goal to stop using alcohol or drugs, so we also provide harm reduction advice to help people keep themselves and others as safe as possible.
Community sentences and prison leavers
Our goal is to ensure that individuals have the necessary support both during their time in prison and as they reintegrate into the community. By collaborating with various agencies such as custody suites, probation, and housing, we can provide a continuity of care from prison to community.
For individuals with Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) or Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR), we provide the necessary support to help them avoid a custodial sentence. Our focus is on rehabilitation and providing the tools for individuals to make positive changes in their lives.
Preventing Overdose
To help reduce drug-related deaths we provide free overdose response Naloxone kits to people at risk of an opioid overdose, their family and friends, and members of the public who could help prevent an overdose.
Naloxone is a medication that can quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, including those related to heroin, methadone, morphine, buprenorphine, codeine and synthetic opioids, like nitazenes and fentanyl. Order yourself a kit through our Naloxone Click & Deliver service and help save lives.
