Helping young people to grow
With over 15 years’ experience of providing services for children, young people and their families, we understand more than anyone the challenges they face.
Did you know, for example, that there are approximately 3.8 million people in England dependent on alcohol, and 1.3 million children in the UK are affected by parental alcohol misuse?
We calculate that one in 11 children live in a family with alcohol problems, exposed to things a child should never see or hear. To bring attention to this problem we launched our Bottling it Up campaign, which not only looked at how families were being damaged by alcohol misuse, but also offered solutions to bring families back together to function happily.
The response we received from this initiative was unprecedented and resulted in many families finding the help they so desperately needed.
We have also pioneered many innovative services that have helped tens of thousands of underprivileged and at-risk young people develop personal and social skills, giving them knowledge and experience to never feel ashamed, but to get back on track and become rounded individuals, leading healthy and productive lives.
Other services we offer young people include:
- Helping stem any trend towards drug or alcohol misuse
- Encouraging them back into school or finding employment
- Finding accommodation and setting up home
- Learning new skills, like problem solving, effective communication, negotiation and team work
- Promoting self esteem
By encouraging young people to grow in confidence they discover a new-found independence to become responsible adults.
