Employment

The key to long-term stability

Along with education and other meaningful activities, employment is one of the biggest factors in helping a person with drug, alcohol or mental health issues or a learning disability get the most out of life and engage with the community.

We have experience in delivering the highest quality employment services for a wide range of clients, engaging them with training and skills to ready them for work, and giving them practical support to get and keep a job.

For example 'Flexible Routeways' is integrated with our drug treatment service to support individuals to return to work and our Hampshire employment service works with local employers to support individuals with a learning disability to experience employment and contribute to the workforce.

We are also one of the biggest providers of progress2work services in the UK.  These services help people with a history of substance misuse into work, and are run in partnership with Jobcentre Plus.

Turning Point has been successful in moving through the PQQ stage for the Progress2work merged programme in the following contract package areas (CPAs):

  • North and Mid Wales, South East Wales
  • South Wales Valleys, South West Wales

We provide practical, employment-focused support, and understand the barriers preventing people from sustaining a job. We also offer a personal mentoring service to help individuals access the extensive range of services available.

All our care support is based on the individual, but some of the help our clients particularly need is:

  • The stability of secure and permanent housing
  • Support to manage mental health conditions and substance misuse problems
  • Clarity on what will happen to benefits
  • Understanding of what childcare arrangements are available
  • Support into vocational training
  • Help with budgeting, managing debt, and applying for jobs
  • Support once in work to sustain their employment

We recognise that clients have a lot to contribute to our business, offering first-hand experience of the services we offer. Therefore people who have used our services sometimes go on to work with us both as volunteers and as paid employees. The contribution they have made to our continued success  is immeasurable.

Through finding employment we encourage our clients to become independent, forward-looking people who can get on with leading as full a life as possible.
