Learning disability

Equality and independence

People with a learning disability should have the same opportunities as anyone else to live the lives they want, with the support they choose, whether through their care manager or through their individual budget. Turning Point's flexible services provide a range of support options that offer real choice.

Residential and supported living services

Some of the individuals who use Turning Point services require full residential support in one of our registered homes – where necessary with nursing led expertise.

Other people want to live more independently, with support from Turning Point staff whether that’s 24 hours a day or a few hours a week in their own home through our floating support services.

August 2009 - We currently have a limited number of spaces in some of our residential and supported living services. Click residential and supported living services to find out more.

Day Opportunities

Some individuals just want to use Turning Point day activities where they can do the things they enjoy, learn new skills and meet up with friends.

Employment services

In some places, people come to us because they want a job. We help them get the right training, experience and skills, plus coaching them through interview and the day to day rigour of employment.

Meeting individual needs

Whatever their circumstances we help individuals live as full lives as possible within their communities. And, of course, our services are totally person-centred  which means we create individual and flexible packages of support tailored to personal need.

Even though the majority of people that we support have profound learning disabilities, often accompanied with physical challenges, our staff are skilled in supporting an individual to make their own choices and then enabling them to fulfil them.  People tell us that they, and their friends and family, get a lot from the relationships with the staff who support them – often built up over many years.
