Turning Point responds to HSJ findings on cuts to mental health services

In response to today's findings in the Health Service Journal on cuts to mental health services, Dr. Felix Davies, Managing Director of Mental Health Services at Turning Point, said;

"Today's findings pointing to cuts and reduced bed numbers are not surprising to those working within the sector but are shocking in regards to the pressure mental health services are currently under even though we know that investment in mental health, prevention and early intervention can not only save money but save lives.

If we stand any chance of improving the situation and achieving parity of esteem, we need to seriously reconsider how our mental health services are funded while also quickly developing new solutions and partnerships across multiple sectors to ensure people with mental health issues get the support they need to achieve sustained recovery. The current situation simply cannot continue."
