Turning Point responds to Ed Miliband’s Speech on Mental Health

News item posted: 17 March 2017

In response to Ed Miliband's speech on mental health given today to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Zelda Peters, Director of Mental Health services at Turning Point said;

"Ed Miliband's focus on mental health and his call for it to be top of the political agenda is welcome. Cuts to mental health services can have devastating effects on the social and economic health of the UK.  We need to ensure the right support is available for individuals when they need it and that they can seek this help in a society which doesn't stigmatise.  We need to ensure that the parity of esteem between mental and physical health as outlined in the Mental Health Strategy and subsequent implementation framework is realised. Access to mental health services is not a health care luxury, it is a necessity."
