Turning Point opens county-wide mental health crisis service opens in Hertfordshire.

News item posted: 19 June 2017

Turning Point and Herts Mind Network have teamed up to launch NightLight, Hertfordshire’s first out-of-hours mental health crisis service. The service has been designed to provide community-based support over the weekend, which provides additional or alternative support to a hospital admission.

The design of the service follows a consultation with people in Hertfordshire, which worked to identify the times when a crisis service such as this is most likely to be needed. The service will offer practical and emotional support for people affected by mental health crises in a safe and supportive environment, as well as referrals on to other support.

There will be NightLight centres in Hemel Hempstead, Ware, Stevenage and Watford, open from 6pm until 2am, Friday to Monday.

Anyone can refer themselves to the service, or make a referral on behalf of someone else. To do so, please call 01923 256391 between 6pm and 12am, Friday to Monday, and speak to a member of the team.

For those who prefer not to come into a centre but who would benefit from speaking with a mental health professional, help can also be provided over the phone.
