Last Week Damian Green, Policing and Criminal Justice Minister and MP for Ashford visited Turning Point's substance misuse service in Ashford.

The Ashford hub is part of Turning Point's East Kent 'Out There Everywhere' service. 'Out There Everywhere' is an integrated drug and alcohol service providing support for individuals with substance misuse issues across East Kent. The service offers a range of therapies which are geared to each individual's specific needs with a focus on long-term recovery.

Damian met with staff and service users to learn more about the key issues facing people with substance misuse in the area.

Shelley Alexander Ford, Team Manager at Turning Point Substance Misuse Services in Ashford said;

"This visit was an opportunity to showcase East Kent's innovative new services and allow Peer Mentors to share their experiences with Damian Green, Policing and Criminal Justice Minister.  I'm incredibly proud of what the team at Ashford have achieved within a short period of time and look forward to the continued development of service delivery with such dedicated staff. It was a pleasure to show Mr. Green the work that we are doing in the area."

Damian Green MP said:

"I was inspired by the level of commitment shown at Turning Point, not just by the staff but also by the volunteers who have agreed to act as peer mentors. Their work in turning around the lives of those with alcohol or drug problems is hugely important, and I am glad that their expertise is available in Ashford."
