Talking Therapies

Our Talking Therapies services are designed to provide quick and easy access to a range psychological therapies - so you can get the help you need, when you need it. If you are feeling down, worried, depressed or anxious our wellbeing practitioners can help, whether that be face-to-face, over the phone or with on-line support.

We offer a range of support including:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a practical and structured form of psycotherapy that focusses mainly on problems in the 'here and now'. CBT can provide you with a greater ability to identify your problems in life and to confront them and solve them.

Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This is simply Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) delivered by an interactive computer programme. We provide a number of computerised CBT programmes including FearFighter and Beating the Blues. The programme takes only three months to complete, and requires minimal telephone support. Little or no computer skills are required to use this programme.

Counselling helps you explore and understand your difficulties and to cope better with feelings of distress or dissatisfaction. It is used to encourage you to explore various aspects of your life and feelings and to examine in detail the behaviour or situations which are proving difficult for you.

We also offer:

  • Self-help books, available from your local library
  • Short-term counselling
  • Short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy
  • Couples counselling
  • Guided self help
  • Education courses - helping to manage stress, anxiety, confidence and fatigue
  • Group sessions to help manage a number of conditions including: depression, social phobia and post-natal depression.
