High Support Services

Turning Point high support services cover both locked and unlocked accommodation and rehabilitation in an independent hospital environment. Located in residential areas, these community based services are designed to help you enjoy everyday life in local, familiar surroundings.

Our high support services provide:

  • Supportive services, enhanced by safe and secure surroundings with many familiar domestic features
  • An empowering therapeutic rehabilitation and recovery programme - which prepares you to make a smooth transition back into your community.

High support services are committed to your rehabilitation and recovery. This means working towards reducing your stay in a secure environment. Our care pathways are based around a clear discharge plan, which is specifically geared towards supporting you over the next 12 to 18 months (maximum two years), in ways that meet your individual needs.

There are currently four identified referral pathways:

  1. Step down from levels of higher security (usually medium or low secure services).
  2. Transfer from places with a similar level of security (psychiatric intensive care units or other locked rehabilitation services).
  3. Step up from a lower level security (such as acute psychiatric wards, assessment and treatment centres, open rehabilitation or community based residential settings).
  4. Diversion from custody as directed by Her Majesty's Court Services.

Referrals can also be made as an alternative to custody.
