High Support Services

For people requiring higher levels of support, Turning Point provides both locked and unlocked accommodation and rehabilitation in an independent hospital environment for up to 2 years. These community based services are designed to help you become more confident in living independently and enjoy everyday life in local, familiar surroundings.

Our high support services provide:

  • Personalised support enhanced by safe and secure surroundings.
  • An empowering therapeutic rehabilitation and recovery programme - which prepares you to make a smooth transition back into your community.

There are currently four ways to be referred to this kind of support:

  1. Step down from levels of higher security (usually medium or low secure services).
  2. Transfer from places with a similar level of security (psychiatric intensive care units or other locked rehabilitation services).
  3. Step up from a lower level security (such as acute psychiatric wards, assessment and treatment centres, open rehabilitation or community based residential settings).
  4. Diversion from custody as directed by Her Majesty's Court Services.

Referrals can also be made as an alternative to custody for those who are eligible to be diverted away from the criminal justice system.
