How do I become a member of the Community Leadership Network?

If you are a Community Researcher or Advocate then you are automatically enrolled into the Community Leadership Network and will receive information about events, projects and training opportunities by post. If you do not want to receive information about the Community Leadership Network, then you can opt out by contacting leadershipnetwork@turning-point.co.uk

I'm not a Community Researcher, can I join the Community Leadership Network?

At the moment the Community Leadership Network is just available to people who have been involved as Community Researchers or Advocates in projects led by the Connected Care team in Turning Point. However, we do want to open up the Network to a wider group of people in the future and we are currently exploring the options for doing this.

I work full time and so I can't make it to any of the events, how can I be involved in the Community Leadership Network?

We distribute a newsletter, Staying Connected, every other month which contains updates on projects, events and all things happening in Connected Care. We also have a facebook page which you can join to talk to other members of the Network and to share your views and experiences of working in the community. Make sure you also visit the Resources section of the website where you can find information on and training materials from all our events too.

I want to get more involved in the planning of the Community Leadership Network, how can I do this?

There is a Community Leadership Network committee made up of 10 members of the Network who meet to discuss the direction of the Network, plan future events, activities and what information is provided to members. Positions are usually held on the committee for 1 year, so there are often opportunities around to become a member of the committee. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the Community Leadership Network, then you can pass these to a member of the committee.

What training do you provide?

We always try to respond to the needs of the members of the Network and to provide training and workshops that meet their development needs. In the past we have delivered training on research skills, social enterprise, peer mentoring and time banking. We are also looking to develop an accredited training programme for the members of the Network. We are always open to suggestions for future events, training and workshops. If there is something that you need support with, then we will do our best to help you.

What is expected of me as a member of the Community Leadership Network?

The Community Leadership Network is a forum for you to share ideas and experiences of working in the community and a resource for training and information. You can participate in any way you want to - by attending events and training, by looking up materials online [link] or just by keeping up to date through the newsletter. We usually hold events every 2 - 3 months in either London or Manchester. There is no demand on your time and you can pick and choose which things are of interest to you.

Do you cover any travel expenses?

Yes, as a Community Researcher or Advocate we can book and pay for your travel for you so you won't be out of pocket for participating in the Community Leadership Network.

Where can I find the latest copy of the newsletter?

The latest edition of Staying Connected is sent to your home every other month. However, if you have misplaced it copies of our previous newsletters, as well as training materials and extra information packs are all available on our resources page.
