Building Futures

New Building Futures building in South Yorkshire

An innovation in service design

Building Futures is Turning Point’s ground breaking initiative. We use capital funding to design and build modern high support services where they are needed in the UK. We work with local commissioners to identify local needs and fill gaps in the local care provision.

Building Futures can help commissioners to provide the right services for local people close to home.

Why do we need a different approach?

Out of Area Treatments have become a major concern as they take service users away from family, friends and the communities they know, tend not to offer step down pathways for clients and are often costly for commissioners. There is a serious shortage of services for people ready to move on from secure hospital settings but who still need high levels of support.

Our services are designed for people who are likely to have a combination of needs - mental illness, personality disorder, learning disability, substance misuse issues and/or challenging behaviours. We provide high levels of support to allow service users to live independently in their own local communities.

The services will bring:

  • Enhanced service delivery
  • Cost efficiency savings for local healthcare purchasers
  • Enhanced local care pathways
  • Increased alignment with NHS networks through collaboration with local Trust providers
  • Specialised services into localised regions

We build the service, and then working closely with local commissioners, we make places available to buy for their service users.
