Turning Point Comments on Alistair Darling’s promise of bank accounts for all

Commenting on Alistair Darling’s announcement in today’s Budget speech that the government intends to introduce bank accounts for all, Turning Point’s Chief Executive, Lord Victor Adebowale said:

“As a key provider of learning disability services, Turning Point believes the introduction of bank accounts for all would be particularly good news for those we support.

“The majority of individuals with a learning disability do not have their own bank account.  However, with the growing personalisation agenda and with more people with a learning disability moving into employment, it is increasingly important that they have control over their own finances.   Through having their own bank account and managing their own personal budget, individuals with a learning disability will be able to live more independent and fulfilling lives.”
